Today we went to Apek hill at Cheras Awana for hiking. This is a place that i frequently go as it is close to my house and it is of moderate difficulty. It is very well known in Klang valley hiking community so you might find it hard to locate parking spot. this is a photo of the entrance.
There are two fruit stalls at the entrance. You can grab your 100 plus after the hike. Their business is usually quite good.
After that you can start the hike, for people the have been here before, the first station was used to be the "bridge station" or in chinese known as "小桥站". But now as TNB is setting up so high voltage tower here so they totally destroyed that station. Instead, when you reach this station you would be greeted by an opened area with lots of sands. It is sad that this has happened. Some locals have set up a petition to stop the process but apparently it is not working.
After that you would continue your journey and come to station 2, which is also known as "middle station" or "中途站”. There is a water station here that you can replenish your water supply, thanks to the enthusiasts that bring the water all the way up here.
Proceed on and we will get to the next station which is known as "gold station" or "金站". Nothing much is here except a few stools or tree-made seats for people to rest.
Moving on and you will come to station 6 or some locals will called it "paradise", "世外桃源". There are some goods to be sold over here, 100-plus, nescafe, some hiking gears. I believe these are not for profit purposes but mainly for the maintenance of the track etc. Sorry as some of the photos taken are not very clear.
Many people will opt to stop at station 6 and going back. However, if you opt to move on then you will go to station 5. This station do not have much except a canopy and a few stools. If you would like to go to the waterfall, you will need to go from here. In this journey we do not go to the waterfall so we will move on to the next station.
The next station will be station 4. This is probably the simplest "station" i have ever seen. It is just a sign stuck on a tree. If you are not paying attention you will probably miss it. But it doesn't matter as station 4 is very close to station 3A, which is our next station.
Station 3A is the best station in this track. It has water supply, stools, table, canopy, "dumbbell and barbell", swings, and some eggs-art decoration. There is a sign board here that shows the overall map of Apek Hill.
As shown in the map, from station 3 moving back to Cheras Awana, we could choose to go through station 2 or go straight to station 1. We chose the latter and found that this path is relatively unused and a bit more challenging compare to the previous parts of the track. However, it is but no way "difficult" and i think most people can do it just fine. Just follow the "first station" sign board and you will be fine. Luckily there are quite a lot of such signs around so it is quite reassuring.
On our way back, we passed through whatever left from the former bridge station. Apparently the station is not totally distroyed. A small part of it remain in a rather pathetic way. Honestly i miss the old bridge station.
Finally, we came back to the Cheras Awana sign board and back to our starting point.

Cheers.
P.S. This is the latest course i took at Apek Hill. This is a longer route that starts from Cheras Awana, to waterfall, proceed to Bukit Saga and then back to the starting point. It takes about 4-5 hours. Enjoy.
