Taman Bukit Jalil Walk

Today i went to Taman Bukit Jalil (Bukit Jalil Garden) which is a garden very close to where i work. I have never heard about this place before until a colleague of mine told me to give it a try. Hence, after my breakfast, i reached the garden at 940am and start my activity today. There is a lot of parking space so you don't have to worry about that. However, please take note that a lot of the part of the track is not shaded so it will be good if you come early in the morning or evening. A map is provided at the entrance so i quickly snapped a photo for my reference.

The first section of the park was the children playground. There were some gazebo and seats here for the adults while their kids were playing.

Moving forward and you would come to a lake. Some joggers would be here jogging around the lake. If you wish to move to the other area then the easiest way would be to move in a straight line and go up a small hill using the staircases.

At the top of the small hill you would come to another gazebo. The place is not well maintained as the roofs as well as many other facilities were not repaired. This is really a waste as i think this place really has good potential. Anyway, if you would like to quickly move on to the other sections of the park, you should go down the stairs again and reach the other side of the hill.

Initially i would like to follow the stairs to go to the other side. However, i was attracted by the sign board stated "Haiwan Liar" which means "wild animal". i was quite surprised by this as i was pretty sure that this was not a zoo and i didn't expect to see wild animals here. So i strayed from my path and followed the path. But instead of seeing "wild animals" i came to a rather opened area with unknown function. Referring to the map, i strongly suspected that this "wild animal" was actually the "Taman Komanwel" or "Commonwealth Garden". I couldn't understand how could this mistake happen.

Returning to my original route, i find myself coming to a bridge. And i found a squirrel on a tree. The photo is not very clear, could you spot it?

Bidding goodbye to the squirrel, i stepped onto the bridge and found that there were a lot of bread remnants on the floor. My instinct told me this must be a spot that people enjoy feeding the freshwater turtles and fishes. And i was right. I even saw some people releasing unknown species of fishes into the pond. Honestly, simply introducing new species into an ecosystem may not be a good idea. But since this pond is not linked to a river i guess it is OK. Besides, as there are some here feeding on the fishes, these new "supply" of food should be very good to those birds. Oh...and i gotta tell you that there are some goose around too. They made a lot of noises and look like they could attack the passerby that dare to walk near them. Lucky they didn't chase me.

After that I came to the most fascinating area in the garden --- the international area (this is how i call it). This part of the garden has some miniature buildings that resembles the landmarks of several countries. This is a good idea and i find it very attractive. Most of the "buildings" include water feature and i am sure they will look really good if they are functional. Too bad, most of them stop working. It is really a waste to see these infrastructure not properly maintained. Anyhow, i would suggest you to visit as soon as possible or the remaining water features will probably spoilt too and the facilities will deteriorate further in the future as i think no repair will be done in foreseeable future.

After this i was heading back to my starting point. I passed by the "multi-level waterfall", but honestly as the water was not flowing, i could only imagine the "waterfall" and how "multilevel" it should be once upon a time.

It should be noted that i could not locate the Heliconia garden (taman heliconia) even though i tried very hard. At the end, i concluded that this garden had been removed/destroyed due to the development around the area. Now it had become "Skyworld property gallery". Sigh...

Lastly, i would like to caution anybody who is going to release fishes into this garden: If you bring a polysterine container here as a container for your fish, please take it home after you are done. Even though there is a dustbin around, it is not big enough for the polysterine container you brought. I have found the goose nibbling the polysterine due to the smell of the fishes. I gonna guess the goose are gonna die of this.
